REGISTRUM

Company extract in South Korea – official record

A company extract for a South Korean entity is expected to record its registered particulars – name, registration number, address, representative and capital – as held by the corporate register on the date of issue. Where a signed or apostilled copy is needed abroad, this is arranged as a separate step, not included as standard.

What a South Korea company extract shows

A correctly issued South Korea extract can still be turned away abroad if it lacks the apostille or legalisation a receiving authority expects; this is not a defect in the document, and it is addressed by ordering the relevant add-on before the record is needed, not after it has been refused. This page covers the company extract / registered particulars South Korea order as a single document, also described below as the South Korea company extract and, once certified or apostilled, as a certified South Korea extract. As with any South Korea company document ordered through REGISTRUM, the particulars on it come only from the register itself, not from an assessment made by REGISTRUM.

The record is expected to set out the particulars a corporate register holds on the day the extract is produced, rather than a full history of the entity. Where a field below is expected to appear in a standard extract, it is listed in the form it is expected to take; where confirmation of that field is still pending for South Korea, this is noted rather than assumed.

Each of these fields is a snapshot rather than a running account: an extract states what is on file on the day it is issued, not a chronology of prior amendments. Where an applicant needs the history of a change – a former registered address, a prior representative, a capital increase – a separate historical extract is the correct order, not the standard one described here. Whether the South Korea register issues a distinct historical version, and on what terms, is presently being confirmed against the primary source, and this page is updated once that confirmation is in.

What it does not show

A company extract records what the corporate register itself holds, and nothing beyond it. It does not show beneficial ownership: whether South Korea maintains a separate register of beneficial owners, or folds that information into a different filing, is a distinct question from the one this extract answers, and the access regime for that record is being confirmed against the primary source.

It does not show financial statements, turnover or paid liabilities – those sit, where they exist at all, in filed accounts or a tax record, not in the corporate register. It does not show pending litigation, insolvency proceedings or judgments against the entity; a court record or an official gazette is the place to look, and neither is covered by this order. It does not show whether a director or representative named on the extract holds the same role elsewhere, since the corporate register in South Korea is organised by entity, not by person.

Where access to any of these adjacent registers is restricted to residents, tied to a national identifier, or closed by a structural rule rather than a mere inconvenience, that restriction sits with the other register, not with the extract described here. The current access regime for the South Korea corporate register – including whether a foreign applicant can request an extract directly – has not yet been confirmed against the primary source, and the general form is used above for that reason.

How it is obtained

The corporate register that holds these particulars is understood to be a publicly accessible register, and the underlying search is expected to be free where the applicant already holds the registration number or the exact registered name. What is paid for through REGISTRUM is the handled route – confirming the current entry, obtaining a certified or apostilled copy, and arranging delivery – not access to information that would otherwise be closed to the applicant.

An official fee is understood to apply to a certified South Korea extract, but the figure has not yet been confirmed against the primary source, so no amount is quoted on this page; where REGISTRUM's own fee is shown, it appears in the price block above rather than restated here. Where a register fee is later confirmed, it will carry a verification date and a source badge, in line with the convention used across this site.

Turnaround for South Korea is confirmed at the point of order rather than fixed here in advance, because the current processing regime for this register has not yet been verified. Whether the extract is issued in Korean only, or with a parallel English version as standard, is also being confirmed; where no English version is issued as standard, a certified translation is offered as a separate add-on rather than assumed.

Where a local step is required – a registration, a power of attorney, or a filing made in person – this is handled through a licensed registered agent in the jurisdiction, rather than left to the applicant to arrange directly. Whether a foreign applicant can request the extract without any such step is itself part of what is being confirmed.

The extract is supplied for the matter for which it is ordered. Reuse for a further transaction, or for a second counterparty, calls for a fresh copy rather than the same document filed twice.

Price and timeline

Price on request: the fee for this jurisdiction is confirmed before payment rather than published on this page. An apostille, a certified translation, a courier delivery or a rush handling can each be added, with the extra time confirmed at the point the add-on is selected. If the document does not exist in this jurisdiction or cannot be obtained for you, we say so before you pay and we do not take the order.

How long does a company extract / registered particulars from South Korea take?

Turnaround is confirmed at the point the order is placed rather than fixed in advance here, because the current processing regime for the South Korea corporate register has not yet been verified against the primary source. State the entity and the date the document is needed by, and REGISTRUM confirms the delivery date together with the fee before payment is taken.

Will a South Korea document be accepted abroad without an apostille?

REGISTRUM does not state whether a receiving authority abroad will accept any document, since acceptance is a decision made by that institution under its own rules. What REGISTRUM confirms is whether an apostille or consular legalisation is available for a South Korea extract, and arranges it as an add-on where the applicant asks for it.

What does a company extract / registered particulars in South Korea not show?

It does not show beneficial ownership, financial statements, pending litigation or insolvency status, none of which sit in a corporate register. Each of these lives, where it exists at all, in a separate register or gazette, and whether that register is open, restricted or closed for South Korea is currently being confirmed against the primary source; the limit is set out in full above.

Can I order a South Korea company extract if I am not based in Korea?

Yes, in principle: state the entity, the jurisdiction and the date the extract is needed by, and REGISTRUM confirms whether the order can proceed before any payment is taken. Where a local step – a registration, a power of attorney or a filing in person – turns out to be required, this is handled through a licensed registered agent rather than left for the applicant to arrange.

What is the difference between a company extract and a certificate of good standing for a South Korean entity?

A company extract records the particulars held on the register on a given day – name, address, representative and capital. A certificate of good standing, where South Korea issues an equivalent, confirms a narrower point: that the entity remains on the register and has not been struck off or dissolved. The two answer different questions, and an applicant asked for one should not assume the other will do.

State the entity, the jurisdiction and the date you need it by; we confirm availability and the fee before you pay, and we note plainly if the record cannot be confirmed for South Korea ahead of that.

Where the extract is needed as a first step rather than ordered outright, the step-by-step self-service route for South Korea sets out how to search the register directly, without placing an order.

REGISTRUM obtains and delivers official records issued by public registers and licensed registered agents. This page describes what those records contain and how they are obtained. It is not advice on the legal effect of any record. To order, write to info@registrumfirm.com.
